Lukashenko fans responded to Baltic sanctions with a picket at the Lithuanian Embassy
Supporters of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko held a picket at the Lithuanian Embassy on Monday, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
They held posters in their hands: “We demand to stop interference in internal affairs”, “Tikhanovskaya – for President of Lithuania”, “We will not give up our beloved”.
The reason for the picket was the decision of the three Baltic republics to impose sanctions on 30 Belarusian officials led by Lukashenko and ban them from entering their territory.
Later, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry responded to this decision. The department’s press secretary, Anatoly Glaz, said that the opinion of neighboring countries “in light of the latest hasty steps” is of less and less importance.
“It is not clear how this step of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia is intended to support the sovereignty and independence of Belarus, about which so much has been said and said on their part. But such a persistent desire to step on the same rake and mindlessly walk in a vicious circle definitely causes sincere disappointment. As you know, “the biggest stupidity is to do the same thing and hope for a different result,” Glaz said.
According to him, Belarus will be forced to take adequate retaliatory measures against the initiators of such steps.
