FAS forced mobile operators to fight telephone scammers
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia has ordered the largest mobile operators to combat so-called spam calls, which allow scammers to deceive citizens by stealing money.
The head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Maxim Shaskolsky, said this today, speaking at the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With regard to the situation with spam calls, at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum we signed an agreement with the largest operators that they will develop a system for tracking and eliminating these calls in agreement with the subscriber.
Megafon and MTS have already launched such software. As far as I know, 240 million spam calls have already been screened out. The remaining two companies should do this within the next few months,” Shakskolsky said.
Let us note that last year telephone scammers stole 150 billion rubles from citizens.
