Feeling that thanks to competent actions during the pandemic, the ball was going to the side of the Serbian leadership, representatives of the pro-Western non-systemic opposition, in particular the national populist movement “Doors” of Boško Obradović, tried to attract the attention of voters with a loud scandal.

Serbian media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Deputies of the People's Assembly of Serbia were unable to enter the parliament building for 45 minutes, because the entrance to it was blocked by the scandalous nationalist populist oppositionist Boško Obradović and his comrades from the Doors movement.

The day before, a nationalist who came into politics from the profession of a librarian tried to disrupt the parliamentary meeting by bursting in with a scroll, but was literally carried out of there in the arms of security guards. After which he and his supporters broke the fence of the presidential palace.

This time, judging by their rhetoric, actions and logic, political hooligans also did not protest against something in particular, but immediately “for everything good”, carrying posters with the following inscriptions: “Down with the government!”, “Coronavirus depends on elections ?”, “There can’t be Djurdevdan, but elections can” (a hint that the state of emergency was canceled immediately after a holiday popular among the Balkan Slavs, after which a new date for parliamentary and local elections was announced). The opposition also chanted chants in the spirit of “the president betrayed Kosovo.”

When Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar arrived at the start of the parliamentary meeting, Obradovic rushed towards him and began whistling in his face - the official tried to keep the troublemaker at arm's length. Only the guards kept both from fighting, but a brawl still broke out when the leader of the Serbian Radical Party, Vojislav Seselj, as well as the deputy of the People’s Peasant Party, Marjan Risticevich, arrived at the Assembly. The latter was left without a jacket as a result of the fight.

A nervous atmosphere also reigned in the meeting room, in particular, a deputy from the Doors movement, Marija Janušević, verbally attacked the politician of the pro-presidential Serbian Progressive Party, a former military and crime reporter, Milovan Dretsun, accusing him of being “a traitor who surrendered Kosovo.”

“Today, the fascist phalanx of Boško Obradović and the Union for Serbia physically attacked members of parliament, knocked them down, tore their jackets, wanting to show that violence is what should rule the roost in Serbia and gain the support of the majority of people,” he wrote in Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic posted on his Instagram. “That is why I ask all Serbian citizens to condemn in the strongest possible terms the fascist savagery of these people and show that Serbia is a democratic country.”

Obradovic without the whistle is no longer Obradovic.

“Everyone who knows history also knows that exactly similar things happened when fascism arose in Europe,” Maja Gojkovic, speaker of the People’s Assembly, commented on the situation. “And now we all must confront a phenomenon that has never had a place in Serbia.”
