Regional presidential candidate Mikhail Dobkin stated this in an interview with Kyiv Channel 5.

“A federal structure sometimes makes states more monolithic and stronger than a unitary form. And, based on this, long before the tragic events for our country, I was one of those who actively promoted the idea of federalization,” the politician recalled.

“Today it is clear to everyone that this will not be received equally positively in different parts of our state. Realizing that, probably primarily due to the lack of political culture, the topic of federalism cannot be calmly discussed in our society, together with our party comrades, we decided to take as much as possible from federalization for the independence of the regions, but to maintain a unitary form of government in our country . Therefore, today we are for a single country, but with broad powers for the regions,” Mikhail Dobkin assured the Channel 5 presenter.
