This was reported by the Belgian publication LeSoir.
As the publication notes, the protesters, by their actions, wanted to draw attention to the problems of the industry among the ministers of agriculture of the EU countries, who are holding a meeting in Brussels. Farmers complain about low purchasing prices for their products, which persist despite the improvement in the agricultural situation in recent weeks.
It is also noted that milk producers are dissatisfied with the supply to the market of more than 20 tons of milk powder produced after the EU bought their products from farmers during a period of rock-bottom prices.
Reportedly, the European Commission is now planning to sell part of its reserves of powdered milk, which is why farmers fear that this could lead to a new reduction in prices for natural milk to 30 cents per liter, which is below the cost of production.
