The restrictions included raw meat, as well as finished products: lard, sausages, canned meat, which are prohibited from being carried even in hand luggage for your own needs. Relevant information is posted on information boards at checkpoints and in public transport that delivers passengers to these points.
“This will be another blow to Ukrainian lard producers,” the publication notes. “In 2016, exports of these products from Ukraine fell by 98 percent due to Russia’s refusal to buy it. As a result, last year we managed to sell only $88 thousand worth of lard abroad, despite the fact that back in 2015 this item brought Ukraine $7,7 million.”
In addition, the publication recalls, earlier Polish Minister of Agriculture Krzysztof Jurgel said that Warsaw would build a fence on the border with Ukraine to fence off Ukrainian wild boars infected with African swine fever. At the same time, the Polish Ministry of Finance promised to allocate the necessary funds for the construction of a fence more than 700 kilometers long.
