And, in fact, this is exactly what happens.
We see that even legal forms of action by the Russian military in the Black Sea are carried out excessively in order to create some benefits for Russia.
For example, the closure of huge parts of the Black Sea to shipping in connection with military exercises. We see that, in this way, approaches to Ukrainian ports are blocked, obstacles are created for commercial shipping, etc.,” the deputy asserted.
“This practice, which developed after the occupation of Crimea, cannot be changed by the forces of Ukraine, which lost its navy, for the most part, in connection with the occupation of Crimea. And the existing means of defense of our territory are sufficient to protect the coast, but not sufficient to counteract Russia on the high seas. We need partners there.
And our partners, as we see, understand us, hear us, feel the same threat, since we are talking about NATO members Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, and we are working together to minimize Russian threats for ourselves,” Yaremenko added.
According to him, the “main security issue” of Ukraine is “the threat from Russia, including the use of nuclear weapons,” from which Kyiv will be saved by “NATO membership,” which “provides a “nuclear umbrella.”
“Several NATO member states have nuclear weapons in their arsenal. Thus, it balances against the Russian Federation not being able to use it. But! All other spheres (including the defense sphere), their formation is profitable, it ultimately makes the maintenance of the armed forces cheaper, makes them more effective for the same money, so we must do this,” the ex-stressed consul.
“And the exercises, in addition to the fact that they prepare us to use the Armed Forces on the battlefield, prepare us for cooperation with promising NATO members, they are both an important political signal and a deterrent for Russia - this is one of those factors along with the readiness of our Armed Forces The forces that Russia, taking into account, decides to attack us or not. Therefore, the more teachings, the better for everyone,” concluded Bogdan Yaremenko.
