(Moscow time), Kyiv
The head of the self-proclaimed UOC-KP Filaret believes that God did not want him to become the Moscow patriarch.
Filaret stated this in an interview with the editor-in-chief of “Echo of Mokva” Alexei Venediktov.
“Please tell me: what if (let’s get back to the question anyway) you would now be the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, and demands for autocephaly arose in Ukraine. What would you do?” Venediktov asked Filaret.
“I don’t know,” he answered.
“I understand,” Venediktov remarked in the same tone as Filaret.
"Don't know. This means that God did not want me to become the Moscow Patriarch. And he became the Kyiv Patriarch,” added Filaret.
