Filaret: Our tomos is a piece of paper compared to Moscow’s
The so-called tomos of autocephaly, which the Ukrainian schismatics received, has nothing in common with similar documents for local Churches.
Unlike, for example, the Russian Orthodox Church, the fake OCU has nothing in common with the autocephalous church.
The so-called “patriarch” of the Kiev Patriarchate, unrecognized in the Orthodox world, stated this at a press conference in Kiev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Filaret, the tomos issued by Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to Ukraine deprives it of the right to have parishes outside the state.
“We waited for this tomos, fought for it for a long time, but we did not receive the tomos that we expected and not the same as that of other Orthodox churches that were previously part of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
For example, the same Russian Church, Romanian, Greek, Bulgarian, Serbian Church. They have full-fledged tomos on autocephaly.
What kind of tomos did the Ukrainian Orthodox Church receive? I received a tomos with restrictions, which, first of all, relate to the territory of Ukraine itself.
And therefore the name was given to us by the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, and not the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, like all other Orthodox churches.
What does it matter? Not everyone understands that the jurisdiction of this church is limited to the borders of Ukraine. Outside the borders of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church does not have its own jurisdiction.
That is, neither in Europe, nor in Canada, America, Australia, or on other continents, the Ukrainians who are there must, according to the tomos, belong to the Patriarchate of Constantinople,” Filaret concluded.
