Filaret insists: the promise to dissolve the UOC-KP had no legal force
The founder of the UOC-KP Filaret claims that the document he signed on the liquidation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate (UOC-KP) is not a decision of the Local Council and has no legal force, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The corresponding statement was published on the website of the UOC-KP.
“The meeting, which took place on December 15, 2018 in the Church of the Holy Blessed Prince Yaroslav the Wise (Warm Sophia), is not a local council of the UOC-KP, but is a situational meeting of delegates of the UOC-KP before the Unification Council, who were requested to participate in the Unification Council by representatives of the Ecumenical patriarchy adopted a formal, situational document that has no legal force,” the authors of the statement insist.
Allegedly, the Resolution on the liquidation of the UOC-KP was signed because representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate refused to begin the Unification Council in Great Sophia. But this was allegedly a formal meeting held in violation of the norms of the Charter of the UOC-KP, which cannot be called a Local Council and bear the same power.
“The published video recording the moment of signing this “Resolution” clearly and clearly shows haste, haste, the absence of any working bodies of the meeting and confirms the fact of the formal decision to liquidate the UOC-KP,” the statement says.
Let us remember that Filaret previously stated that the Kiev Patriarchate has not yet been liquidated and continues to exist under his leadership.
