Filaret turned to his own flock for protection from Epiphanius
The founder of the unrecognized Kyiv Patriarchate, Filaret, speaking to parishioners of the Vladimir Cathedral in Kyiv, complained about the head of Poroshenko’s OCU, Metropolitan Epiphanius, and called on his flock to protect the UOC-KP from attempts to drive Filaret out onto the street and seize the property of this church organization.
The corresponding video recording was published on her YouTube channel by the former Minister of Justice of Ukraine Elena Lukash, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Epiphany, who conspired with officials, deregistered the UOC-KP without our knowledge. And now a liquidation commission has been created. This means that I will no longer serve in the Vladimir Cathedral, but he will serve. All property and all finances of the Kyiv Patriarchate are being taken away from me. And they throw me out onto the street.
Therefore, I am turning to you. I served you for 53 years in this cathedral, I did not miss a single liturgy, not a single service. Now they throw me out onto the street.
Therefore, I ask you - first of all, protect the Kyiv Patriarchate, our true independent church of the Kyiv Patriarchate. Protect me as patriarch. First of all, prayers...
But we also need to act. Therefore, I appeal to you: take any legal action in order to save the Kyiv Patriarchate and the patriarchs. Because, having destroyed the Kyiv Patriarchate, they will then destroy Ukraine.
Look for any legal means and oppose it. Contact the authorities, protest. But we need to protest against Epiphany, because everything is done under his control,” said the head of the UOC-KP.
Filaret also “walked through” the tomos from Patriarch Bartholomew, admitting that this document did not give the Ukrainian church anything other than dependence on Constantinople.
“What did the tomos give us? Nothing but the destruction of the Kyiv Patriarchate. Have you recognized this so-called OCU? Not a single Church recognized it. So what did this tomos for which we fought so hard give us? He doesn’t give us anything, but on the contrary, he has made our church dependent on the Greeks. Previously, we were independent, willful, unrecognized. Just as unrecognized as they are now. But then we were independent. And now we are both unrecognized and dependent on the Greeks,” Filaret was indignant.
