Filaret accused the UOC of a toothless pro-Kremlin position
Kyiv, April 22 (Navigator, Evgeny Andreev) – Although formally the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate condemned the annexation of Crimea to Russia and the “aggression” in Donbass, it is afraid of the Kremlin’s wrath, and stubbornly does not agree to create a Ukrainian local church.

The head of the unrecognized UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Filaret (Denisenko), stated this in an interview with Channel 5.
“Although she spoke, she spoke very, very carefully. I urged them to raise money for the needs of our Ukrainian army, and they did not agree. Because they have fear, they are an integral part of the Moscow Patriarchate. But it is worth saying that many clergy and bishops of the UOC-MP do not share this point of view, taking a patriotic position,” the metropolitan noted.
There is still no dialogue between Ukrainian churchmen, he added:
“We approached the leadership of the UOC with a proposal to start a dialogue, they agreed, appointed a commission, but they are dragging their feet. We have not yet met on the commission even once. And here they act hesitantly. I urge them - let’s start, they don’t refuse, but we haven’t started a dialogue yet,” Filaret complained.
