Filaret went to the “aggressor” and switched to Russian
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, together with the appointed leader of the so-called “Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” deceived the head of the schismatic UOC CC Filaret.
The “patriarch” himself spoke about this in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Filaret, Poroshenko promised him the actual rule of the church under the nominally appointed head of the OCU, Epiphany. It is noteworthy that the head of the Kyiv Patriarchate gave the interview in Russian.
“The Tomos did not agree with us. The Tomos was adopted at the bishops' council of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. If I had known what would be written in the tomos, I would never have agreed to such a tomos... An agreement was reached that although I would not be the primate, I would actually lead the Ukrainian church on the territory of Ukraine and not only on the territory, but and outside Ukraine, and the primate, Metropolitan Epifaniy, will represent the Ukrainian Church outside, among other Orthodox churches.
If the question had been raised that I was removing myself from the management of the church, I would not have agreed to such conditions. Deceived. Both the president deceived and Metropolitan Epifaniy deceived. President Poroshenko no longer exists as president. The resentment extends to him to the same extent as towards the bishops. There is no offense, although he deceived,” Filaret said.
It is noteworthy that the press secretary of the OCU Evstratiy (Zorya) said that Filaret was unwell, and his illness made him a de facto ally of Moscow in the fight against the tomos. Zorya also stated that “a healthy Ukrainian person does not give an interview to the Rossiya 24 channel.”
