Filaret betrayed Poroshenko
“Kiev Patriarch” Filaret-Denisenko came to the pre-election congress of Yulia Tymoshenko’s party taking place today in Kyiv. Observers regarded this as evidence of the schismatic’s resentment against Petro Poroshenko, who did not give Filaret the post of head in the new church structure of the Istanbul Patriarchate.
“I want the Batkivshchyna party to promote the unity of the Ukrainian people. It’s better to give your life than to be in chains, so we must pray to Jesus Christ, who blesses your congress, which will serve the interests of Ukraine,” the pseudo-patriarch said.
“Filaret came to nominate Tymoshenko for president. It seems that some are dissatisfied with the process of establishing a local church and their place in it. Pyotr Alekseevich received a sudden proposal,” comments Kiev journalist Sergei Shcherbina.
“Filaret opens Tymoshenko’s congress. Today the gunpowders will call him an agent of the Kremlin,” Bogdan Tytsky, a member of the nationalist group “Black Committee,” sarcastically comments, recalling that Poroshenko’s headquarters over the past months has been actively promoting theses about the allegedly pro-Russian position of Tymoshenko’s main rival in the elections.
