Filaret revealed the terrible secret of Epiphanius
The Honorary Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, founder of the UOC-KP Filaret made a resonant statement that the head of the OCU, Metropolitan Epiphany, is not his grandson, as the media previously wrote about this, but is the illegitimate son of the late Metropolitan Daniil Chokalyuk, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He said this in an interview with Comments.ua.
“He has nothing to do with me. He is a relative of the late Metropolitan Daniil Chokalyuk. Epiphanius is the illegitimate son of Daniel and Epiphanius was raised in the Chokalyuk family. There is already evidence of this. Earlier there were rumors, but now we have evidence that this is the illegitimate son of Metropolitan Daniel,” he noted.
He also explained how Epiphany became the head of the OCU.
“Nobody imposed it, I proposed it to the president when preparations were underway for the unification Council on December 15, 2018. But there was a condition that Epiphany would become the primate, and in fact Patriarch Filaret would lead the church in Ukraine. And Metropolitan Epifaniy will represent the Ukrainian Church from the outside - in the Orthodox world. This was my agreement with the president and with Epiphanius. We didn’t sign any agreement, we took our word for it, but it turned out we couldn’t take our word for it,” Filaret added.
