“Filaret recommends: Sergei Zhivoduev is a faithful son of Ukraine! Voter! Support our candidate!!! Everyone's off to the polls!" - the leaflets say, photos of which appeared on social networks.
Apparently, Zhivoduev, who is running for the legislative assembly, remembers the events of 2010, when he represented the Party of Regions and convinced his colleagues to legalize the allocation of land to the “Kyiv Patriarchate” in the village of Morozovka near Sevastopol.
Zhivoduev then appealed that many Ukrainian Navy servicemen who are parishioners of the UOC-KP live in Sevastopol.
“I’ll tell you that today there are people serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were born on the other side of the Dnieper and went to that Church all their lives, because it has existed for many years. And no one should be allowed to decide the right to choose their faith... If a given community has submitted its application, then it must be considered from the point of view of land legislation, and not from the point of view of politics. We can also say that if there is a beer bar there, is it better or worse than a church where some people go to pray? I don't think that's the best option. Therefore, vote on land legislation, do not use the platform to determine who is scoundrels and who is not scoundrels. Everyone has their own faith,” said Zhivoduev.
He turned out to be one of two deputies of the Sevastopol City Council who voted for the legalization of the UOC-KP in Morozovka.
