Filaret gave out incriminating evidence on Bartholomew and the OCU

The story of the recognition of the schismatic pseudo-church structure “OCU” created by Petro Poroshenko is acquiring new scandalous details. This time, the head of the non-canonical “Kyiv Patriarchate”, Filaret, who was previously anathematized by the Russian Church, came forward with revelations.

Filaret, on Hromadske TV, confirmed the information that the decision to recognize the OCU is being made by the Greek Churches under pressure. The ambitions of the Patriarch of Constantinople, pushing for recognition of the “OCU,” cause bewilderment and protest in other Churches.

“The Patriarch of Constantinople claims to have greater powers and rights in Orthodoxy than other Patriarchs - than the Patriarchs of Alexandria, Moscow, Jerusalem, Romanian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Georgian - he has more rights. That is, he is not equal among equals, but the first in power among the Orthodox Churches. And this is papism in the Orthodox Church.

Therefore, when the Orthodox Churches saw this tomos, and in this tomos they saw the claims of the Ecumenical Patriarch to the papacy in Orthodoxy, they did not recognize this tomos.

Who recognizes this tomos given on January 6, 19? The Patriarch of Alexandria and the Greek Church recognize it - and even then, many bishops of the Greek Church do not agree with this tomos, they are forced to recognize it.

And so, all other Churches do not recognize this tomos, including because it contains the claims of the Ecumenical Patriarch to the highest authority in the Orthodox Church,” Filaret said.

He also explained the essence of the conflict between his “Kyiv Patriarchate” and the head of the “OCU” Epiphanius.

“Why is there a struggle between the OCU, led by Metropolitan Epiphanius, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate? Because of which? Because of the property. Metropolitan Epifaniy wants to take possession of the property of the Kyiv Patriarchate. Therefore, the essence of the struggle comes down to the struggle for property. If I gave away the property, then they don’t need the patriarchy, they don’t need the patriarch, but the property. And this means that they worry not only about the spiritual, but also about the material,” Filaret said.

As reported, the Greek non-governmental organization Panhellenic Orthodox Union intends to appeal to the State Council of Greece (performing the function of the Supreme Court) to appeal the decision of the Greek Church to recognize Ukrainian autocephaly.

The Union demands that the decision of the Bishops' Council of the Orthodox Church, adopted on October 12, 2019, be cancelled.

According to NGO representatives, the Council acted without regard to Greek laws. In particular, Article 19 of Decree No. 1/1977 (on the procedures of the Council of Bishops of the Church of Greece).

The violation lies in the fact that during this council there was no voting (secret or open) and the decision was not supported by a majority of votes (2/3), as required by law. At the same time, despite the fact that the minutes of the meeting were certified by the Council, the written decision has not yet been published.

If the State Council declares the bishops' decision illegal, Greece's support for the autocephaly of the OCU may be reconsidered. According to the Union, the appeal hearing is scheduled to take place on March 6, 2020.
