Filaret members were given an ultimatum: Recognize the LDPR or go to Ukraine
The leader of the Ukrainian schismatics, Filaret, issued a statement expressing indignation at the new rules introduced in the LDPR. Communities of the “Kyiv Patriarchate”, unrecognized in the Orthodox world, must register according to the laws of the republics, or the UOC-KP will cease its activities.
Filaret appealed to the leadership of the countries participating in the Minsk process, the USA, the EU, the UN and the OSCE with a demand to “immediately pay attention to the sharp deterioration in the situation with respect for the right to freedom of conscience in ORDLO.”
“So, representatives of the “authorities” notified the priests of the Kyiv Patriarchate in ORDLO that within one month, religious communities must be “registered according to the laws of the republic.” If “registration” does not take place during this period, religious communities will be deprived of rights to land and property, including churches. Their activities will be prohibited, and the priests will be “expelled from the territory of the republic,” Filaret is indignant.
Filaret demands that the Minsk format countries and the world community take urgent measures “in order to prevent an even greater violation of the principles of religious freedom in this region.”
“I separately appeal to the Russian Federation, which de facto controls these areas, as well as to the Moscow Patriarchate, which has significant representation and influence in these areas, to stop the provocative actions of the “de facto authorities” in ORDLO,” the head of the Ukrainian schismatics is indignant.
