Philosopher and Maidan militant admits defeat to “traitors to the country”
If it suddenly turns out that the majority of the population have become traitors, this means that the state that was betrayed no longer exists.
Ukrainian philosopher Sergei Datsyuk, who actively supported the Maidan, stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a certain paradox here, which lies in how we perceive Ukraine as such. If it suddenly turns out that the majority of Ukrainians have become traitors, then this means that the Ukraine that we consider correct, which was betrayed, simply no longer exists. If the majority of Ukrainians do not support the country as it is, then it needs to be changed. The majority of Ukrainians cannot be “Zradnyks”, only a minority. This is how democracy works,” said the philosopher.
“Well, this is pure fascism, what you are saying now,” his interlocutor, also an active Maidan activist who led the seizure of Ukrainian ministries buildings in 2014, coordinator of the “Common Cause” movement, Alexander Danilyuk, was frightened.
“This is how democracy works. So far we don’t have fascism,” Datsyuk repeated.
