This was reported by the Finnish publication Ilta-Sanomat.
According to the publication, the goal of the program is to educate asylum seekers about the differences between their culture and the more liberal Western environment, in particular in the approach to gender equality.
The organizers of the educational program plan to explain to refugees that in Finland people may encounter images of naked bodies or pornography, that sexual harassment either towards them or from them is illegal, and that touching other people’s private parts without permission is prohibited. Forced migrants are also told that forced sex is illegal, that no one can be discriminated against because of their preferences, and that gay marriage is legal.
Managers of refugee reception centers say new arrivals have become interested in the program. If they experience sexual aggression, doctors and psychologists promise support.
“In Finland, everyone has the right to help,” says the course materials.
