“Federalization is not a bad word. This provides answers to all the questions that need to be addressed today. Give more powers to the regions, there should be more opportunities. There must be a central government that resolves external issues, but it should not resolve regional issues. But I am entirely for the integrity of the country. That is, when I talk about federalization, I am not talking about the separation of regions of Ukraine. There must be a whole country, but regions and regions must have greater powers. The governor must be elected, the mayor must be elected, then there is a government in the region. Then people understand who to ask. They know better how to distribute their money, what to build, what to do,” Firtash said.
“I believe that big capital is not interested in war in the territory where its industrial assets are located. He is also not interested in severing economic ties within one national economic complex. Fitash will not be able to make money from this war. Kolomoisky is already making money from it. Therefore, Fitash is a party of peace,” political commentator Alexey Blyuminov commented on the oligarch’s position to Navigator.
“It’s important to understand this. The same Firtash is interested not so much in federalization in itself, but in reconciliation and compromise between Kiev and the regions. And federalization here acts only as the only effective tool for such reconciliation today. This is not an ideological fetish, as it is for pro-Russian nationalists. Everyone understands that there will be no unitary Ukraine, or it will be Ukraine, the east of which will be the Zhytomyr region. Obviously, capital is not happy with this prospect,” the expert concluded.
