The Depositor Protection Fund compensates only half of the deposits of Crimeans
Moscow - Simferopol, October 6 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Within three years, the Depositor Protection Fund will be able to compensate only half of the funds paid to Crimeans - 11 billion rubles. The figure is based on a preliminary assessment of the value of the seized property of Ukrainian banks.

According to the chairman of the supervisory board of the Fund, Andrei Melnikov, of the 22 billion rubles transferred by the fund to agent banks for payment of compensation, there is a certain chance of returning approximately half in the foreseeable period - over three years.
The Fund plans to receive this amount from the sale of seized property of Ukrainian banks. But since large Russian banks, fearing sanctions, do not go to Crimea, there is no one to sell this property yet
In addition, the rights of claim under loan agreements were transferred to the Federal Fund, which manages the Crimean property of Privatbank and Oschadbank. According to Melnikov, the fund has not yet taken any action to collect these debts. “Now borrowers are in a difficult moral state, because they are under pressure from one side, they are under pressure from the other,” he noted (quoted by TASS). “If a person conditionally pays off a Russian bank, then when he crosses the border with Ukraine - there he is a debtor, he is blacklisted and his property will be seized.” He is convinced that resolving this issue is the subject of agreements at the state level.
Another source of compensation for the costs of payments to Crimeans is the rights of claim on deposits to Ukrainian banks purchased from them. The Fund will apply to the Ukrainian courts, demanding compensation from Ukrainian banks.
