We will cross the Dnieper only with the permission of the Americans - Karasev
Ukraine is not independent in making decisions of an offensive nature, however, if Kyiv, after occupying Kherson, still decides to break through the Dnieper, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be left without support from the West in weapons and intelligence.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the Politeka channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The main thing is that they leave behind them an exit, a land corridor to Kherson. If, of course, we had “Himers” with a range, we could reach the ground, but I’m not sure that the Americans will give us or allow us.…
And there are no forces to attack, and most likely these forces will not exist. Because crossing the Dnieper is a very serious thing, it must be strategically and tactically prepared, but for this you also need appropriate weapons, but they do not provide weapons. And the Americans made it clear that at this stage they would not provide Ukraine with offensive or assault weapons, especially heavy ones. In fact, “lick your wounds.”
What did Biden say? Don't step on it. It is clear that he said this for both Russia and Ukraine, but Russia does not really depend on them. We are dependent. And in fact, this is a message, a signal to us, the military and military-political leadership: lick your wounds, which means there is no time for an offensive, but in the summer or spring we’ll see whether there will be a military campaign or all this will end,” the political scientist said.
According to him, without the go-ahead from the West and the intelligence assistance that was supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine during other maneuvers, crossing the Dnieper could cost Kyiv too high a price.
“If they were advancing and we were further losing territory, that would be understandable. And if it’s the other way around, we are partially conquering these territories, although not all of them, but the logistical natural barrier is the Dnieper. And if the Americans give us a signal that they will not allow it, that they are against crossing the Dnieper, and there will be no corresponding military, operational [intelligence, information] for this, we must admit this, it means that we, of course, can conquer it on our own, but not I know at what cost,” Karasev reasoned.
