Fraer backed down: the EU returned its ambassador to Russia

The Ambassador of the European Union to Russia, Markus Ederer, recalled from this country on March 23 in connection with the poisoning of Sergei Skripal, returned to Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

After this information appeared in the media, it was confirmed by the official EU representation in Russia. The report notes that Ederer “returned to Russia upon completion of consultations in Brussels.”

Radio Liberty sources reported that Markus Ederer arrived in Moscow on April 12.

This is the first return of the ambassador since the beginning of the global diplomatic scandal between the West and Russia with the mutual expulsion of dozens of diplomats.

The UK, US, EU, NATO and Ukraine have expelled a total of more than 150 diplomats following the assassination attempt on Russian ex-intelligence officer Sergei Skripal in the British city of Salisbury. Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned with the nerve agent Novichok.

Both of them have already emerged from unconsciousness and are on the mend. Yulia Skripal was discharged from the hospital, but her father is still under medical supervision
