The Popular Front parliamentary faction supported the statement of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko about the need to extend the special regime for governing Donbass.
The head of the Popular Front, Maxim Burbak, stated this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In his message to the Verkhovna Rada, the President of Ukraine expressed his position regarding the extension of the law “On the procedure for local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.” The parliament's decision prevented Putin from blaming Ukraine for the failure of the peace settlement and allowed for the strengthening of international sanctions against Russia.
Our faction intends to support the president’s position this year as well. In our firm conviction, the law must clearly comply with the law adopted on our initiative “On the peculiarities of state policy and ensuring the state sovereignty of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territory in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions” and with the legislative act that clearly defines the fact of Russian aggression in the Donbass and Crimea.” , - he said.
