In 1991, Germany and France allegedly gave Ukraine and Georgia some guarantees of the inviolability of their borders, which means they should be held accountable for non-compliance with the agreements.

Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Germany and France are economic and political partners of the Russian Federation. And this is very unpleasant for us, because it was these two countries that refused the MAP in 2008, when almost everything was already ready, Georgia and Ukraine.

And we remember that in 2008 Georgia was attacked by the Russian Federation, and today we have a situation where they lost part of their territory for a certain period of time. After that, we have the situation with occupied Crimea, and so on,” he said.

According to Danilov, France and Germany should bear responsibility for the fact that Georgia and Ukraine lost part of their territories.

“Should Germany and France be held responsible for this? I think they should. Because in addition to economic penalties, there are also political things. If you are talking about democracy, about freedom, and that you value every country, then the situation is what it was in 1991, when it was agreed that those countries were inviolable.

And today, when one country violates all this, and they express some kind of concern, we believe that this is too little in the modern democratic world. This concern existed in 1938, 1939, and we know how it ended,” the official concluded.

Let us recall that previously retired US Captain 1st Rank, ex-NATO representative in the Russian Federation Harry Tabakh explained that The Budapest Memorandum does not contain any guarantees protection of Ukraine, so Kyiv has nothing to hope for. Same German experts also confirmed.

Moreover, even in Kyiv they admitted that it was Ukraine that was the first to violate the Budapest Memorandum, announcing a course towards integration into NATO.
