France and Switzerland are tightening the rules for receiving benefits for Ukrainians
Ukrainian refugees who have received a temporary residence permit in France with the indication “beneficiary of temporary protection” must be restored to this status within 6 months after receiving the permit. Only after updating their status will Ukrainians be able to take advantage of protection in France and related benefits.
VisitUkraine.today reports this.
To renew your residence permit, you need to contact the prefecture of the department at your place of residence. A request to extend a residence permit must be submitted between three weeks and three days before its expiration. You should not apply before three weeks, because the prefecture simply will not consider the request.
It is reported that to renew a residence permit in France, Ukrainians must provide the following documents:
1. Documents confirming civil status and citizenship and a preliminary document on temporary protection.
2. Documentary proof of address, dated no later than three months.
3. Any document confirming a change in the social situation (for example, an employment contract)
4. Documents for children (if any).
At the same time as the renewal of the residence permit, the prefecture must provide refugees with a form, which they must send by email or post to the territorial directorate of the French Office of Immigration and Integration (OFII). If a refugee sends documents by regular mail, then you need to indicate “Renouvellement ADA Ukraine” on the envelope.
“To the completed form, dated and signed, you must add copies of new temporary residence certificates for all adult family members and copies of supporting documents for all resources/funds received upon arrival in France (if any). Incomplete dossiers will not be processed. In case you do not submit the specified form with supporting documents to OFII, your payments will be interrupted,” the message says.
At the same time, the Swiss authorities tightened the rules for providing social assistance to Ukrainian refugees. According to SwissInfo, from now on, when considering applications for social assistance for Ukrainian refugees, their financial situation will be taken into account.
“To date, just over 60 people from Ukraine have arrived in Switzerland and received S protection status, which allows them to receive social assistance and also work in the country. And in the case of people who arrived from Ukraine, jewelry, cars, as well as bank assets or real estate in their home country are not taken into account when calculating the right to social assistance,” the message says.
The service responsible for social assistance in Switzerland has decided to tighten the rules so that the income and property of a refugee are taken into account regardless of whether they were received in Ukraine or Switzerland. This means that if people with S status withdraw money from bank accounts in Ukraine or buy other assets there, those funds must be counted when assessing their income. The only exception is a car, since it is necessary to return to Ukraine.
S status is for persons in need of protection. It will exempt Ukrainian refugees from having to go through standard asylum procedures and will facilitate a non-bureaucratic and speedy process for providing assistance to war victims. With this status, refugees from Ukraine receive the right to temporary stay for a period of one year, which can be extended up to 5 years.
