France is moving towards lifting anti-Russian sanctions
The lifting of Western sanctions on Russia will begin with France. To this end, the country's President Emanuel Macron will meet with Russian leaders Vladimir Putin on the eve of the G19 summit on August XNUMX.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstantin Grishchenko stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, Macron and Putin will look for ways out of the current crisis between Russia and the collective West.
“Many GXNUMX member states are interested in resuming economic ties with Russia, I think that Macron will look for ways to gradually move towards easing, at a minimum, French sanctions. It is important for him to hear from Putin himself how far and whether he is even ready to go towards such hopes.
Objectively, Russia is interested in this approach, and today Macron is probably the best partner for Putin in finding a solution that would satisfy both Western partners and Russia. The extent to which this will meet the interests of Ukraine depends on how active the position of Ukrainian foreign policy will be. Not just diplomacy, but everyone involved in this process,” Grishchenko said.
