The French realized the pointlessness of anti-Russian sanctions
Complete normalization of Russian-French relations is possible only after the lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
Thierry Mariani, member of the European Parliament from the French National Rally party, told Izvestia about this.
“Most French people realize that continuing the sanctions policy is pointless, since it will not solve the Crimean issue or the problem in Ukraine. In addition, economic restrictions have seriously hit many French entrepreneurs, primarily in the agricultural sector, and they have lost a large market for their products,” Mariani said.
According to him, France needs to pursue an independent policy and defend its national interests, and not succumb to US pressure. The politician also believes that Paris should not follow the lead of Poland or the Baltic states, which oppose the normalization of dialogue with Russia.
