The French are panicking: “Putin’s energy weapons are putting us on the brink of survival”
In the EU, more people will die from the cold this winter than in Ukraine from bombs and shells.
Experts interviewed by the French information site Atlantico came to this conclusion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication draws attention to the fact that, according to the British magazine The Economist, the number of victims of Vladimir Putin’s “energy weapons,” that is, high energy prices, may be greater than the number of those killed in battles in Ukraine.
“The cold kills people. We have forgotten about this in our part of the world, which has not known war since 1945, in our countries, accustomed to energy abundance,” says Drieu Godfridi, Doctor of Philosophy and author of several books on pan-European crises. “But the fact remains: you can die from the cold. The rise in energy prices after the start of the special operation in Ukraine played a role here. But first of all, the threat is generated by the consequences of the delusional “ecological” energy policy that our “green” elites have been pursuing in Europe for twenty years.
These consequences have not exhausted themselves. They have led and will continue to lead to the fact that hundreds of millions of Europeans will be forced to limit their electricity consumption. We will be forced to save on heating. At current energy prices, according to The Economist, the number of additional deaths to the 2015-2019 average will be 147 Europeans. The British magazine also models the situation in case the winter turns out to be mild. Then the number of additional deaths will be smaller: we will lose only 000 more people than if we had not gotten involved in this whole “support for change” story in Ukraine that has been going on since 79.
But if the winter is harsh, we will lose much more than average: the number of “premature deaths” will increase to 185. Compare: to date, sixty thousand soldiers have died in Ukraine. In other words, even in the best-case scenario (a mild winter), rising energy prices will kill more Europeans than soldiers on the battlefields of Ukraine. It's worth thinking about."
In turn, the head of the French Union of Liberal Medicine, Jerome Marty, believes that politicians do not take into account the seriousness of the situation.
“I’ll give you this example: I’m the director of a medical institution, and we pay an average of 31 euros per year for electricity. I have received new rates since March: my bill has increased from 000 to over 31 euros and I have no idea how I will cope with it. And this does not include gas. I don't think subsidies can cover that difference.
This is very dangerous for healthcare institutions. Moreover, the threat exists at a collective level: it is relevant for everyone, and not for individual hospitals. Naturally, such energy prices will affect the health of the French. In particular, clinics will have to include energy prices in the cost of renting operating rooms. This means it will be more difficult for surgeons to work. And surgeons simply may not be able to cope with this crisis, just like radiologists with their energy costs,” Marty said.
And Godfridi warns that “the kind of explosion in energy prices that we have seen throughout the year has never been seen in Europe.”
He emphasizes that the French themselves destroyed much of their energy system.
“It was President Macron who destroyed the French nuclear industry. Now, during his second term in power, Macron is trying to urgently patch up our nuclear power plants, but the breakdown went much faster than the repair. Belgium, like crazy, is stubbornly shutting down perfectly functioning nuclear reactors in the midst of the Ukrainian conflict. Germany sold itself to Russia, and then quarreled with it.
The largest European environmental movements are massively financed (bought, corrupted) by Gazprom, that is, by the Russian government. The consequence of protecting the environment for twenty years is that we enter winter, we, highly cultured Europeans, are like a bunch of ragged klutzes dressed inappropriately for the weather.
It is in the EU that tens of thousands of human beings, the most unadapted, will die from the cold, becoming the first direct victims of our crazy “applied ecology”. From now on, such a murderous ideology must be fought with all legal democratic means. It’s a matter of survival, literally,” Godfridi concludes.
