Freedom House records increase in Ukrainian far-right attacks on minorities
The international non-governmental organization Freedom House, in its report “Far-right extremism as a threat to Ukrainian democracy,” notes an increase since the beginning of 2018 in cases of attacks by far-right nationalists on minorities, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the author of the review, Vyacheslav Likhachev.
“In recent months we have seen some negative dynamics. Since the beginning of this year, the number of incidents by the far right related to the disruption of events, public rallies and closed events has increased sharply. And a sharp increase in incidents involving attacks on minorities,” he said.
In the report, the author mentions such organizations as “OUN Volunteer Movement”, “Brotherhood”, “C14”, “Carpathian Sich”, “Social-National Assembly”, “UNA - UNSO”, “Tradition and Order”, “Revenge”, "Revolutionary Right Forces", "Katekhon".
Likhachev emphasizes that the above organizations do not pretend to participate in the elections, although they are active in the public sphere.
The report points out the disruption of a lecture on the Holocaust in Lviv in January 2018, an attack on the Queer Home Krivbass office in Krivoy Rog in February, an attack on marchers on May 8, an attempt to disrupt the Docudays human rights documentary film festival in Kyiv in March, and attacks on camps Roma
