Freedom House admitted that blocking Russian social networks violates human rights
Blocking Russian social networks in Ukraine is a restriction of freedoms and human rights, but Ukrainians themselves do not value their rights. Human rights activist Zoryan Kis, coordinator of Freedom House projects in Ukraine, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Of course, this is a restriction of freedom and a person’s right to access information, the right to self-expression. There can be no discussion about whether this is a restriction or not. There can be a discussion about whether this restriction is proportional and whether it is necessary in a democratic society, and, in the end, whether we want to preserve this democratic society. If not, if democracy, pluralism, human rights and freedoms are not in the first place for us, then, unfortunately, we have decisions that, moreover, are not explained to people at all,” said the human rights activist.
“The explanations we hear work for the domestic audience. Of course, people are scared, looking for simple solutions and generally believe that everything should be banned. Unfortunately, according to the polls that have taken place, rights and freedoms are not yet the highest value. We know that the majority of people in Ukraine would now like to see the death penalty returned. This illustrates attitudes towards human rights,” concluded Kis.
