“The front will move to the former borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions”
Kyiv has realized that Moscow is not joking when it talks about its intention to protect the Donbass republics from Ukrainian aggression.
The famous Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin stated this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an interview published by Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“I will very carefully suggest that for Kyiv the messages that came from the lips of our president are quite understandable. For the first time, Russia clearly stated that in the event of an attack by Ukraine, it would defend Donbass not only diplomatically, but in any way. And of course Ukraine is doomed to defeat,” Prilepin said.
He believes that Germany and France - the strongest players in Europe - will not support Ukraine, including for environmental reasons.
“There are 200 nuclear facilities and burial grounds on the territory of Ukraine, which could accidentally burst into flames and fly in a cloud to Europe. Poland and Lithuania support aggression in Donbass, which will not ensure victory for Ukraine. NATO will not get involved in this war; they are initiating it only as an excuse to shut down Nord Stream 2. The chess layout is clear,” says the publication’s interlocutor.
At the same time, he explained that if a war happens, it will not be short, nor victorious, nor with few casualties, since in the form conceived by Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will try to reach the Russian border.
“So they will have to break through. And Russia, in order to enter into the conflict, will have to wait for severe losses on the part of the DPR and LPR. Of course, we will not drive them back to today’s line of contact. Most likely, the front will move to the former borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. But Ukraine has two, three, four lines of defense there. And all this will take place, unfortunately, nearby or right in populated areas,” Prilepin concluded.
