The publication writes: “After Spain, Cyprus and Greece, the Czech Republic called for an end to the constant confrontation with Russia.”
Despite the fact that US pressure on the EU is increasing, there is no hint in the EU itself of further tightening of sanctions. The European Union is divided on this issue.
Thus, at the end of last week, the publication reports, the Spanish Foreign Minister during a visit to Moscow spoke out against sanctions. Cyprus and Greece, which typically maintain close ties with Russia, have previously rejected the sanctions.
“We should not forget that economic cooperation with Ukraine will indeed be useful,” said Hynek Kmonicek, head of the foreign policy department of the Czech President, “but the country’s accession to NATO in the near future is an illusion. We must face the unpleasant truth: the only reasonable path for Ukraine is to maintain a policy of balance between its two powerful neighbors.”
Kmonicek criticized, among other things, sanctions against Russia. “Are we still honest with ourselves? Let’s ask ourselves, are we really ready to pay the necessary price for this?” – said Kmonicek.
Before this, Milos Zeman himself, in a milder form, expressed dissatisfaction with the confrontation between the EU and Russia created under US pressure.
