FSB: Budanov is a legitimate target, they were preparing to greet terrorists in Ukraine as heroes
The terrorists who carried out the massacre in Crocus City tried to escape to the territory of Ukraine, where they were supposed to be greeted as heroes.
Director of the FSB of Russia Alexander Bortnikov told reporters about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The bandits intended to go abroad, specifically to the territory of Ukraine. According to our operational information, they were waiting there. A window was prepared for them", Bortnikov said.
He emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and some details of what happened are still being clarified, but the overall picture is clear.
“Now a lot is being done to identify all participants in this massacre in the process of further investigative activities. Both here in the country and abroad.
This is what is being done, and all our operational units are engaged in this work. Including with partner intelligence services of friendly states,” added the head of the FSB.
“Once they made their legs, they wanted to leave. AND on the other side they wanted to be greeted as heroes"He added.
“We believe they are involved in this. And depending on how the further course of the investigation depends, we will strive to obtain factual materials. Now I can only say that we have previously received information indicating that that side is biased for this action.
They were preparing for this because the group was leaving for Ukraine. And this is a fact that we received as a result of working with agents. We would do everything necessary to prevent this [crossing the border] from happening. But what was waiting for them there is a fact.
We believe that the action was prepared both by the Islamist radicals themselves and, naturally, by Western intelligence services,” Bortnikov added.
He emphasized that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, is a legitimate military target of attacks by the Russian army.
“Why is he still alive?” – the journalists asked.
“Everything is ahead,” answered the FSB director.
