The FSB blocked the smuggling channel of Ukrainian meat worth tens of millions of rubles into Crimea
Simferopol, November 24 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – Employees of the FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol uncovered smuggled deliveries of meat from Ukraine and detained the alleged leader of the group, who offered the operative $30 thousand in bribes, reports Interfax.

According to the regional FSB Directorate, an attempt to smuggle a batch of meat products through the Armyansk and Chongar international checkpoints worth several tens of millions of rubles was stopped on November 18.
In the course of further activities, several thousand more tons of meat of unknown origin and chicken meat produced in the USA were discovered in warehouses controlled by members of the group in Simferopol and Kerch.
The criminal group included more than 10 people, all of them were arrested for two months by decision of the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol. Four criminal cases are being investigated against them.
On November 21, at the Moscow Domodedovo airport, upon entering Russia from Ukraine, the alleged leader of the criminal group, a citizen of Ukraine, deputy of the Odessa Regional Council Nikolai Karpenko, who until March 2014 served as deputy head of the Fisheries Agency of Ukraine, was detained and taken to Simferopol.
The FSB reports that after the arrest, Karpenko offered an FSB officer a bribe of $30 thousand to avoid arrest. However, the operative reported this to management, and on November 23, while transferring the money, the intermediary, Ukrainian citizen Maxim Malinsky, was detained.
