The FSB caught an elderly Mejlis militant in Crimea
The FSB detained in the Simferopol region a 62-year-old member of the illegal armed formation “Crimean Tatar Battalion named after. Noman Celebidzhikhan”, assembled from supporters of the Majlis banned in Russia and who participated in the blockade of Crimea.
This is stated in a message from the special service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The investigation found that the detainee joined the illegal armed group in 2015, underwent special tactical and fire training, and in November of the same year participated in the economic and energy blockade of the peninsula.
“Based on the results of operational-search activities, a criminal case was initiated against the detainee on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of Russia, the defendant was taken into custody. Further measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the crime he committed and to identify criminal connections on the territory of the Russian Federation involved in the activities of the “Celebidzhikhan battalion,” the message says.
