The FSB of the Russian Federation stopped the activities of a sabotage and terrorist group consisting of citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan and a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, who planned to carry out a series of high-profile terrorist attacks in Moscow using high-power improvised explosive devices.

“The militants were preparing terrorist attacks on the direct orders of an emissary of the international terrorist organization Islamic State, which is banned in the Russian Federation, and who was put on the international wanted list by law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Tajikistan,” the message says.
As a result of operational search, operational combat and investigative actions carried out on December 15, 2016, 4 members of a sabotage and terrorist group were detained in Moscow.
At the residence addresses of terrorists in Moscow and the Moscow region, automatic firearms and ammunition, ready-to-use improvised explosive devices, as well as a significant amount of mixed explosives for the manufacture of a high-power explosive device were discovered and seized.
