The FSB stopped an attempt to import weapons from Ukraine
The FSB "caught" smugglers transporting weapons to Russia from Ukraine and Lithuania. The organizer and ten members of the organized crime group were detained in Novy Urengoy, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports citing the FSB press service.
As a result of the search, security forces found dozens of firearms, including pistols, machine guns, and grenades.
“33 units of domestic and foreign-made firearms were seized from illegal circulation: 7 machine guns, 11 rifles, carbines and shotguns, 14 pistols and revolvers, a submachine gun, as well as 3 hand fragmentation grenades, about 9 thousand cartridges of various calibers and 575 main parts and weapon components. The activities of four underground workshops for the modernization of weapons were suppressed,” the message says.
Previously, Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anatoly Lappo spoke about massive arms smuggling into the country from the territory of Ukraine.
