The FSB announced the detention of extremists in Crimea
FSB officers in Crimea stopped the activities of supporters of the terrorist group Hizb-ut-Tahrir, banned in Russia.
This was reported by the press service of the department, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Security forces detained five members of the group, two of whom were cell leaders, and three were active participants.
“The operational search activities carried out established that members of the territorial structure carried out anti-constitutional activities based on the doctrine of creating the so-called “world caliphate”, destroying the institutions of secular society and aimed at overthrowing the current government by force. During the meetings, using secrecy measures, they spread terrorist ideology among the residents of the peninsula and recruited Crimean Muslims into their ranks,” the FSB reported.
“At the places of residence of MTO members, a significant amount of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami propaganda materials, communications equipment, and electronic storage media prohibited in Russia were discovered and seized,” the report says.
Let us remind you that the day before PolitNavigator reported that the security forces conducted a number of searches in several regions of Crimea, including Sevastopol.
