The FSB detained terrorists in Crimea who were coordinated from Ukraine
The FSB, together with the Russian Guard, detained six members of a cell of the international terrorist organization (ITO) “Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami” (banned in Russia by a decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in 2003) in Crimea.
This aggressive sect operated legally in Crimea under Ukraine - it held conferences and rallies in the center of Simferopol. After the reunification of the peninsula with Russia, most of the adherents fled to Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“During the activities carried out, it was established that, while coordinating MTO emissaries staying in Ukraine, these individuals carried out targeted work to spread terrorist ideology on the territory of our country. In the process of secret meetings, they recruited Russian residents from among local Muslims into their ranks.
At the places of residence of MTO members, a significant amount of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami propaganda materials prohibited in Russia, communications equipment, and electronic media used by them in carrying out terrorist activities were discovered and seized,” the FSB said in a statement.
The investigative unit has opened criminal cases.
Operational search activities and investigative actions continue.
