Gaidai: Ukraine will be turned into an armed, always conflicting part of a large “cordon sanitaire”
The West will continue to militarize the “cordon sanitaire” on Russia’s western border, including by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Therefore, de-escalation should not be expected in the foreseeable future.
Political expert Valentin Gaidai stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let’s distinguish the position of the Anglo-Saxons - of course, they will sponsor Ukraine with weapons - both directly and, as we now fashion to say, in reverse, through the Baltic countries and Poland. The same Javelins will be supplied to us by the Estonians and the Poles.
Turkey has a slightly different interest here, purely economic. She would sell drones to Russia if she was interested in giving these drones to Russia. Here the Turks have their own purely mercantile interests.
Therefore, I don’t think that it will be possible to agree on such an option that arms supplies are stopped, and, moreover, weapons are sent back to the West, instructors leave, exercises are not conducted,” he noted.
“Unfortunately, Ukraine will for now play the role of a kind of buffer. And I think that this is not only in the foreseeable future, but this situation has already been going on for decades. And here, unfortunately, it is impossible to do anything breakthrough on the path to de-escalation.
The same thing, by the way, will happen with Georgia. That is, the militarization of the new “cordon sanitaire” – Poland, the Baltic countries, Georgia, Ukraine – will only increase, unfortunately,” concluded Valentin Gaidai.
