Galicians, shocked by the tribute imposed by Filaret’s followers and the lists of debtors, are calling for burning the churches of the Kyiv Patriarchate
In the Zhovkov district of the Lviv region, at the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, unrecognized in the Orthodox world of the UOC (KP), a list of local residents who owed donations to the temple was posted, сообщает Zaxid.net.

“At the entrance to the church, they hung several sheets of paper with the names of parishioners and the amounts they paid every month. In addition, there is a separate column with debt for 2015. From the lists it is clear that one village resident must pay the church 15 UAH per month, if there are several people in the family, then this amount increases (for a family of three it is 45 UAH, for five it is 75 UAH),” the publication notes. .
On social networks, in particular in the FB group “Varta 1”, the collection of tribute by Filaret’s members caused indignation. People called such actions “corruption and extortion.”
It turned out that such cases are far from the only ones in the Lviv region.
“Mom bought a dacha in the village of Sukhorechye - 30 km from Lviv. The situation is similar. The priest’s wife came and asked to donate about 300 UAH for the church. Mom refused because she comes there sometimes and goes to church in Lvov. To which she was told that she was using their land and she had to pay. Now fellow villagers say that every Sunday after the Liturgy they read out my mother’s name as a debtor who refused to give money to the church,” said user Yuliana Lemish.
“Business is made on poor people…. drive out such priests,” Yulia Bekar, in turn, is indignant.
“Burn such churches together with those “businessmen,” calls on Yuri Ozhirko.
At the same time, the rector of the temple where the lists of “debtors” were posted, Ivan Baranich, criticizes the reaction of social networks.
“What kind of law can that community normalize the life of the parish? If they have fallen low, then let them read the Gospel, which they have never taken into their hands: “Of all that I have, I give a tenth.” He who has 5 billion, let him give a tenth, and the one who has a piece of bread, let him divide it into several parts and give one piece - as the Gospel teaches, as Christ. This is not my will. And people far from the church begin to say that we should adjust Christ to them. But this is populism,” Baranich commented on the situation for Zaxid.net, advising those dissatisfied with the appearance of these lists to go to court.
