Galician "writer" Andrukhovich: Residents of Donbass must suffer
Residents of the Donbass republics who miss Ukraine can be considered “already returned”, as for the rest who like the “occupation” - this is already within the competence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Ukrainian writer Yuriy Andrukhovich, who lives in Ivano-Frankovsk, said this on the air of NTA, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Those who left there, we have already returned them. That is, it was the decision of each of them, because I believe in the personal decision of a person or family who decides to leave their home due to the fact that their further life in it will be impossible. These are millions of people who do not live in the occupied territories, whom Ukraine will return sooner or later.
At the same time, we often hear this, there are people there who, due to some difficult circumstances, simply cannot leave their home, although they do not accept that regime and would be very glad to see the return of Ukraine and Ukrainian flags. And the understanding is that they don’t need to be conquered again and converted to some other faith, because they just want to wait,” Andrukhovych said.
He called another “species” of people living in the “occupied” territories those “who cannot be re-educated.”
“Because there is simply a serious stratum among them who, in the current conditions, have become much better. We cannot say that they are all suffering there. As Dmitry Korchinsky once very well cynically put it: the principle of war is people in the occupied territories must suffer, if people feel good under occupation, then you risk never liberating this territory. This is cynical, but at the same time the reality is that it will most likely confirm it,” said the “writer.”
“That is, there is already a huge bureaucratic apparatus there, they have already received Russian passports in addition to Ukrainian ones, which they also need for visa-free travel. There was a huge crowd of haters who spat at these Ukrainian activists, tied them to the pillory, and so on.
But we have already formulated a position of somehow “forget and forgive,” but I don’t think that this is the right decision. It is as if we were to let this evil triumph and remain on the throne. Unpunished evil is even worse. Therefore, this is a very open question; in reality, everything depends on how capable Ukraine will be of fighting there. I think that the military still has the first word,” added the Ukrainian writer.
As PolitNavigator reported, Andrukhovich suggested back in 2014, How can Ukraine “beautifully” get rid of Donbass?.
