Galicia is indignant: The icon of Ukrainian literature became a citizen of the Russian Federation
Ukrainian writer-Galician Ivan Franko on the Nobel Committee website in the list of past award nominees is listed as a citizen of the Russian Federation.
Bogdan Tikholoz, director of the Lviv Ivan Franko Museum, announced this in his blog.
He points out that Franco visited Russia, but was always a subject of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
In addition, Tikholoz indicated his current status on the social network as “angry” and called for vigilance and concern.
He also asked diplomats, the media and authorities for help in resolving this issue.
It is worth noting that the regional center of Ivano-Frankivsk received its current name under Soviet rule. Previously, this city was called Stanislav in honor of the famous Polish tycoon Potocki.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv demanded an apology from the Italians for using the historical name of Ukraine.
