The head of the Kyiv regional police, Dmitry Tsenov, spoke about this on his Facebook page.
“Last night the Brovary police showed great professionalism. Skillfully using special equipment, service firearms and means of physical force, they quickly and coordinatedly detained him in the village. Zalesie of a 53-year-old drunken former ATO participant who fired at civilians with automatic weapons. Then he threw 2 grenades into their yard,” writes the policeman.
According to Tsenov, during the arrest, the attacker “opened targeted fire and threw a live grenade towards the police officers” who arrived at the call, and “tried to escape in an official car.”
“However, he was instantly detained and neutralized at the crime scene. Unfortunately, two people, neighbors of the criminal, were injured as a result of the explosions. Now they are receiving qualified medical care. I believe that everything will be fine with the citizens, and the detainee will suffer severe punishment in accordance with the Law of Ukraine! – Tsenov promises. “Investigators have opened 3 criminal proceedings: on the fact of attempted premeditated murder, threats or violence against a law enforcement officer and illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.”
However, in the comments to the post, users questioned the professionalism of the police.
“What is the “unbiased professionalism” of the police? The fact that some drunken scumbag is walking around the city in broad daylight with a machine gun and grenades?” asked Anton Viggy.
“A warrior of light and goodness could not do such a thing. He’s a separatist in disguise,” Elena Nedilko sneers.
