In her opinion, due to the short-sightedness of the Georgian authorities, it will be extremely difficult to quickly return Russian-Georgian relations to the level they were a week ago.

“As for the protesters, I can definitely say that initially there was an open and sincere protest, but, again, because of the stupidity of our government, Russia and Mr. Gavrilov have absolutely nothing to do with it. Gavrilov sat down where he was shown. Nevertheless, pro-Western political forces later began to actively use this sincere protest,” Burjanadze said.

She noted that the forces associated with the fugitive ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili were especially careful in whipping up anti-Russian hysteria.

“Now I see that everything was done absolutely deliberately so that this protest would be turned into the mainstream of anti-Russian hysteria. Unfortunately, what is happening in Georgia now is anti-Russian hysteria. It seems as if it’s not 2019, but 2008, and people are only now realizing what happened in Abkhazia or South Ossetia. Of course, this is definitely fueled by the American intelligence services. And Saakashvili, as always, is trying to make the most of this protest and will do everything to ensure that anti-Russian hysteria is the main guide of Georgian politics,” concluded Burjanadze.

Let us remind you that the formal reason for an anti-Russian coven in Tbilisi was the speech in the Georgian parliament by State Duma deputy, head of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy Sergei Gavrilov.
