“I was shocked and almost choked on my tea: in the Donbass commander, introduced as Semyon Semenchenko, after he took off his balaclava, I recognized Konstantin Grishin, whom I had known well since 1999, who was known to me as a notorious swindler. The last official information about him I saw was somewhere after 2000: the newspaper “Krymskaya Pravda” published a notice from the Crimean Ministry of Internal Affairs about putting citizen Konstantin Igorevich Grishin on the wanted list for committing a serious crime. The notification was accompanied by a photograph of the criminal... Soon a rumor spread that Grishin was either dead or missing,” ex-city council member Stanislav Galchinsky says in the material.
“I simply could not not know about this, frankly speaking, talented rogue who has today become a bandit on an all-Ukrainian scale, if only because of my activities. Since 1995, I edited the newspaper of the city committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine “Sevastopolskaya Pravda”, ... on this basis I had to cross paths with Grishin. His name became popular among Sevastopol residents in the late 90s and was associated with the name of two organizations with the same, as they say in the criminal world, “driver” - “Relief Society”... One of the organizations was indicated as public, the other as charitable. The founder of both companies, created like the famous “Horns and Hooves”, was, as you might guess, the newly minted Ostap Bender - 24 years old Kostya Grishin. And before that, the fraudster also managed to create Universal-Inkom-Yug LLC, which was declared bankrupt in June 1999, which is why he was chased by representatives of a dozen joint-stock and private enterprises - creditors who unsuccessfully tried to return their money in the total amount about 100 thousand hryvnia. I kept copies of the relevant documents for about 10 years. They were received from a former employee of the company, Grishin, after the latter severely beat him for his unwillingness to participate in the owner’s machinations,” the author claims.
According to him, the activities of Grishin’s “Mercy” at that time were covered up by the city authorities - the administration of Sevastopol “turned a blind eye to the acts with which the “thrown” creditors unsuccessfully tried to interest the prosecutor’s office and the court.” Galchinsky explains this by the fact that the newspaper registered by Grishin then actively supported Leonid Kuchma and his idea of a referendum.
In 2000, the author says, Grishin himself tried to be elected to the city council, but lost the election. “Then, as already mentioned, he disappeared altogether, and was soon put on the wanted list. And suddenly a petty swindler is resurrected as a rather large bandit with the intention of becoming a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada,” Galchinsky is amazed.
“The disappearance of Grishin from Sevastopol at the beginning of the XNUMXs was caused by the fact that law enforcement agencies were closely involved in him, and he surfaced in the most densely populated region of Ukraine under a different name. But, as they say, no matter how much you feed the wolf, he looks into the forest. A swindler will remain a swindler, and the recent situation in the country has favored the transformation of an ordinary swindler into a big bandit. In fact, the current government in Kyiv is formed from these people,” the publication sums up.
