Moldova and Transnistria made a deal on Saturday - gas supplies to the PMR are resumed, and the unrecognized republic in response launches at full capacity the Moldavian State District Power Plant located on its territory and operating on “blue fuel”, which supplies, among other things, Chisinau.

Gas for Transnistria was previously blocked in Ukraine, at the direction of Moldova, ending up in storage facilities. Chisinau now takes these reserves for itself, in return promising Tiraspol the entire volume of Russian fuel going to Moldova. This is how the head of the Moldovagaz enterprise, Vadim Cheban, described the agreements.

Let us recall that in the fall Moldova staged a gas blockade of Transnistria, pursuing several goals. Firstly, Chisinau intended to achieve concessions from Gazprom on price. Secondly, punish the “separatists” and show solidarity with Ukraine.

However, the gas shortage in the PMR led to the transfer to a limited operating mode of the local hydroelectric power station, which supplied electricity to the Moldovans. Officials of Maia Sandu tried to purchase from Romania - it turned out to be four times more expensive.

“How enchanting is the stupidity of the “pro-European” politicians of Moldova, who decided to start overpaying for electricity in order to save gas,” notes economic observer Ivan Lizan.

The situation became critical after Russian attacks on Ukraine. The state district power plant, which was transferred to a limited operating mode, did not allow the system to be balanced when emergency shutdowns began in Ukraine, as a result, both banks of the Dniester were plunged into darkness for several hours.

Now, as Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu said, MGRES will supply 204 thousand MW to the right bank at a price of $73 per 1 megawatt per hour. This is more expensive than the old price of $62,5. Thus, Pridnestrovie will additionally earn more than $2 million in December alone.

“Tiraspol will at least receive compensation,” Lizan believes.

At the same time, it was announced today that Moldova imported 4,3 million cubic meters of gas through the Greece-Bulgaria-Romania corridor. Apparently, this is also Russian gas, but it costs much more than Gazprom’s.

Representatives of both the pro-Western camp are outraged by the deal. They remind that the debt for gas supplied to the PMR is recorded by Moscow on the account of Moldova.

“It’s time to move the capital to Tiraspol, and Maia Sanda to work at Gazprom.” It will be fair. Why do we need a government in Chisinau when there is already one in Tiraspol. Giving all the gas received from Gazprom to the left bank in exchange for electricity is idiotic. After all, the debt will accumulate. And the government will, as usual, recognize it. Imagine a situation where you borrow from someone, but give all the money to a third party who does not even plan to give it back. The only thing it is ready for is to produce electricity with your money and sell it to you. Very profitable? And if you know that the third party is a separatist regime, which will ensure its existence due to this, then the government is idiots squared,” wrote the chairman of the European Left party, Grigory Petrenko, on the American social network.

Against this background, very strange statements were made from the party in power.

“We are grateful to Romania for its support in solving the consequences of the energy crisis, thanks to which every citizen of our country has light in their home,” said Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Grosu.
