Gazprom and Moldovagaz do not agree with the audit findings on Moldovan debts
The Russian enterprise Gazprom announced its disagreement with the statements of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Moldova regarding the results of an audit of the historical debt of Moldovagaz JSC for supplies to consumers on the right bank of the Dniester River.
This is stated in a media release published on the official website of Gazprom.
The auditor's report was not approved by the Supervisory Board of JSC Moldovagaza, as provided for in the agreements between PJSC Gazprom and the government of the Republic of Moldova, Gazprom notes in its press release.
“In any case, as we have already noted, the auditor and the terms of the tender for the purchase of his services were unilaterally determined by the Moldovan side without the consent of Gazprom and Moldovagaz. The auditor’s conclusions cannot in any way influence the size and validity of this debt, especially since it is confirmed in documents regularly signed by Gazprom and Moldovagaz and in the relevant decisions of international arbitration,” the statement says.
The head of the Moldovagaz enterprise, Vadim Cheban, also expressed bewilderment at the statement of the Ministry of Energy of Moldova.
“The publicly announced figure of 8,6 million US dollars is puzzling, while the total amount of historical and current debt of JSC Termoelektrika and JSC TPP-Nord to Moldovagaz for natural gas supplies amounts to 46 million dollars and is confirmed by all the documents necessary for collection,” the official wrote on his page on the social network.
The day before, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Moldova, Viktor Parlicov, said during a briefing that the Moldovan authorities are offering the Russian company 8,6 million euros to resolve the issue of Moldova’s historical debt for gas.
As Moldovan President Maia Sandu reported, auditors did not find a debt to Gazprom in the amount of $800 million.
